Fantasy College Football: Update - Week 9

[Saturday] After Bo Pelini promised changes would be made on the offensive side of the ball, the Huskers finally put some points on the board. They didn't need much, as the defense continued their strong play, doubling up Baylor 20-10 in Waco. Ndamukong Suh (5tackles, 1sack) was once again unblockable at the line of scrimmage. The Nebraska defense has allowed an average of 12.5 points through 8 games. Colorado returned to form against Missouri on Saturday. They spotted the Tigers 33 points in the first half, eventually losing 17-36. Sean Weatherspoon (12tackles, 8solo) led the way for a defense that only allowed 176 total yards, recovered three fumbles and forced a safety. Derrick Washington (22car, 99yds, 1td) ran for more yards than his previous two outings combined (35yds vs. Oklahoma St, 35yds vs. Texas). Danario Alexander (8rec, 123yds, 2td) broke the 100-yard barrier and scored multiple touchdowns for the third time this season. He now ranks third overall among Big XII receivers. In Lubbock, the Red Raiders gave the nod to redshirt freshman quarterback Seth Doege, who made his first career start. Despite Doege getting benched, Texas Tech had no worries, thanks to another Jayhawk offensive implosion: Texas Tech 42, Kansas 21. Dezmon Briscoe (9rec, 110yds, 1td) was the lone bright spot for the Kansas offense, which saw Todd Reesing (181yds, 1td) lose two fumbles and get sacked six times, before getting benched. The high score for Week 9 belongs to Texas Tech's Baron Batch (17car, 123yds, 4td, 5rec, 13yds) who scored three times in the fourth quarter. Red Raider running backs are usually feast or famine, but Batch has set season highs in touches over each of the last three weeks. Head coach Mike Leach always goes with the hot hand, so look for Batch to continue receiving the lion's share of touches. In College Station, the Aggies cruised to a 35-10 win over Iowa St. Cyrus Gray (21car, 119yds, 1rec, 7yds, 1td) followed up last week's POTW performance with another 100+ yard effort. With Landry Jones (294yds, 4td) now running the show full-time, Oklahoma held on for a 42-30 win over Kansas St. Ryan Broyles (8rec, 91yds, 2td) was Jones' favorite target all night, and seems to have fully recovered from his shoulder injury. After sitting out last week with an ankle injury, DeMarco Murray (15car, 62yds, 2td, 4rec, 28yds, 1td) was back to his old self. The only encouraging return for Kansas St belonged to Brandon Banks (9rec, 156yds) who took a 4th quarter kickoff back 98 yards for a score, his second in three weeks. In Week 9's marquee matchup, Texas looked impressive while brushing aside Oklahoma St 41-14. An undefeated regular season for Texas is an almost certainty now, with four games remaining: Central Florida, @Baylor, Kansas, @Texas A&M. Zac Robinson (143yds, 1td, 4int, 11car, 32yds) looked lost against Texas' incredible team speed on defense. Roddrick Muckelroy (9tackles) completely shut down Oklahoma St's running game. The Longhorns only allowed 277 total yards, and returned two Zac Robinson interceptions for touchdowns. Texas is clearly on a different level than the rest of the Big XII this year, and it's not even close. Continue reading for the current scoreboard:
