Fantasy College Hoops: Update - Week 6

[Monday] Unfortunately, three teams did not submit lineups at all yesterday. It looks like some have given up. But for the rest of us with an ounce of pride, let's make the rest of this season a memorable one. Only two players were in action last night, and both had solid outings. God's on my side jumped out to a big lead, as Gani Lawal (29pts, 7reb, 1blk, 1stl) and Georgia Tech overpowered Chattanooga on the front line. The Game of the Week nearly had a player penalty. But I couldn't stand the idea of having an asterisk next to this potential win for my squad. Storm Warren (14pts, 12reb, 1ast, 2stl) has three double-doubles in his last three games. Only a 2-7 performance from the stripe could slow down this Bayou Bengal, because SE Louisiana sure couldn't.

[Tuesday] We're only two days into the week, but a handful of matchups appear to be all but over. Neenan's Warriors and Chalmers Chiefers are too talented to blow a 2-man advantage at this point in the season. God's on my side has gotten off to one of the best starts of the year. Jon Scheyer (36pts, 8reb, 9ast, 1blk, 1stl) buried seven threes in Duke's 113-68 rout of Gardner-Webb. WGP got no help from LaceDarius Dunn (3pts, 2reb, 1ast), fouling out in only 17 minutes of action. But Baylor teammate Tweety Carter (27pts, 4reb, 8ast, 4stl) scored 27 points for the second straight game. It's still early in the Game of the Week, but Gordon Bombay struggled out of the gate last night. Kyle Singler (11pts, 5reb, 3ast, 1blk, 1stl) was held scoreless in the first half. And Damion James (8pts, 9reb, 1ast, 1stl) was hardly needed in Texas' blowout of Texas-Pan American in embarrassing fashion.

[Wednesday] Trevon Hughes (20pts, 6reb, 3ast, 4stl) helped Gordon Bombay get back on the right track last night. With a win wrapped up, Neenan's Warriors continue to pile on the points. Dominique Jones (27pts, 6reb, 2ast, 2blk, 5stl) kept his hot streak alive against Central Florida. Although benching Dwayne Collins (20pts, 15reb, 2ast), who would have given him 40+ points, doesn't look so smart now. Paul Rudd > Ashley Judd's Derrick Favors (15pts, 11reb, 1ast, 3blk, 4stl) has four double-doubles in his last five games. Things are definitely starting to click for the bluechipper from Atlanta. But last night's greatest game came from Clemson's Trevor Booker (13pts, 12reb, 9ast, 3blk), who narrowly missed a triple-double. We haven't heard his name much this year, mainly because Maria Koppen is 50/50 on turning in lineups. Despite a 1-man advantage, The Pink Jellybeans have a lot of catching up to do, heading into this weekend's games.

[Thursday] With most of the matchups still in the balance, this weekend is shaping up to be an ultimate marathon of hoops. Last night featured two players, who both led their teams to close wins. Tasmin Mitchell (27pts, 6reb, 3ast, 1blk, 2stl) helped Boilers bounce back from a dreadful start. He drained all three of his three-pointers, including the game-winner with :36 left. The Game of the Week has been quite the battle so far. Crimson & Bluebloods' Tracy Smith (21pts, 8reb, 1ast, 2blk, 1stl) struggled from the charity stripe (3-7), but made two clutch baskets down the stretch, putting the Wolfpack ahead for good.

[Friday] No players/games of record.

[Saturday] With finals week in the rear view mirror, Saturday's games were jammed with players. The shootout between Boilers and Paul Rudd > Ashley Judd came down to the wire. Malcolm Delaney (26pts, 4reb, 6ast, 2stl) and Landry Fields (24pts, 9reb, 5ast, 1stl) were scoring machines in their games. The Pink Jellybeans' Herb Pope (13pts, 11reb, 4ast, 2blk, 4stl) continued his hot streak with another double-double. But today's difference maker was Alex Stepheson (19pts, 15reb, 1ast), who now gives Paul Rudd > Ashley Judd a commanding lead.

[Sunday] Well, Boilers gave it a hell of a shot... but it just wasn't enough. Joe Trapani (21pts, 10reb, 2ast, 4blk, 3stl), earned his second double-double on the season, while recording season highs in blocks and steals. With the third highest score for Week 6, Boilers just caught a bad break in matchups. Even though The Pink Jellybeans had a man advantage, Al-Farouq Aminu (18pts, 13reb, 3ast, 1blk, 2stl) couldn't complete a comeback against Maria Koppen.
