Fantasy College Hoops: Update - Week 7
[Monday] It appears a handful of teams checked out early for the holidays. Only five lineups were turned in before the deadline. Nevertheless, let's hope that teams continue to fight the good fight the rest of the way. I will definitely take these recent actions into consideration for the upcoming power rankings. Boilers and Neenan's Warriors were the only teams with active players last night. Coincidentally, they are playing each other this week. It's been a disappointing season for Arizona, who squeaked by Lipscomb in overtime last night. Nic Wise (26pts, 3reb, 3ast, 4stl) hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer, improving the Wildcats record to 5-5 on the year. Devan Downey (16pts, 3reb, 8ast, 7stl) five-finger discounted Furman all game long, with seven thefts. But Monday's high scorer belonged to Boilers, as Jamine Peterson (25pts, 13reb, 1ast, 1blk) logged his third straight double-double, giving him seven total this season.
[Tuesday] After last night's games, all but one matchup (Boilers vs. Neenan's Warriors) has been decided. God's on my side got another double-double out of Luke Harangody (20pts, 11reb, 5ast, 1blk). Their 1-player penalty appears to be insignificant now. Damion James (23pts, 13reb, 2ast, 1blk, 1stl) led the Longhorns to a convincing 79-68 win over #9 Michigan St. What slump? Quincy Pondexter (25pts, 13reb, 2ast, 3blk) broke out of his scoring rut after Texas A&M's Donald Sloan broke his right tibia and fibula. On a lighter note... Wesley Johnson (19pts, 11reb, 2ast, 2blk, 2stl), the Corsicana Kid, paced the undefeated Orange in their 92-60 blowout win over Oakland.
[Wednesday] After a slow start, Gordon Bombay bounced back with a vengeance. Thanks to double-doubles by Sylven Landesberg (14pts, 12reb, 6ast, 1stl) and Trey Thompkins (35pts, 15reb, 1blk), Bombay remains tied for first place. Chalmers Chiefers got an unexpected monster game from JaMychal Green (27pts, 13reb, 3blk, 1stl) against Mercer. While Samardo Samuels (29pts, 15reb, 2ast, 1stl) was just icing on the cake of God's on my side's Week 7 victory.
[Thursday/Friday/Saturday] No games/players of record.
[Sunday] Only three starting players remained going into the final day of Week 7. And each of them put up some eye-popping numbers. As if they needed any more points, Boilers ran up the score with season-high scoring outings from Greivis Vasquez (26pts, 8reb, 5ast, 1stl) and Stanley Robinson (29pts, 5reb, 1ast, 1blk, 2stl). The Pink Jellybeans have lost three straight, but place no blame on Jimmy Butler (16pts, 8reb, 5ast, 2stl), who was responsible for over 30% of the team's scoring this week.
