#2 Gordon Bombay vs. #7 Nosotros Creemos
Kentucky's other sensational freshman, Terrence Jones (17pts, 10reb, 5ast, 2stl) put in some major work against Mississippi State's frontcourt. This postseason double-double had to be extra painful for Gordon Bombay, who traded Jones to Nosotros Creemos (previously Chalmers Chiefers) way back in Week 4. Ironically, the other player involved in the trade was also in action on Tuesday. And despite a 3-for-14 shooting night, Malcolm Delaney (22pts, 6reb, 5ast, 3stl) buried all 14 of his free throw attempts, and did not commit a turnover while playing all 40 minutes. #3 The Hammer vs. #6 Paul Rudd > Ashley Judd
It was a nightmarish game for the best freshman in the country. Ohio State's Jared Sullinger (11pts, 2reb, 1ast, 2stl) could only log 27 minutes and a career-low 2 rebounds against Michigan State. Luckily for the #3 seed, Miami's Durand Scott (12pts, 12reb, 2ast, 3stl) cushioned the blow, posting a surprise double-double against UNC-Greensboro.| AP Photo/Gerry Broome |
#4 Boilers vs. #5 The Iron Men
This is shaping up to be a great matchup. Each squad's frontcourt stud brought their A-game. Boilers' Jeff Allen (16pts, 11reb, 3ast, 1blk) recorded his sixth straight double-double for Virginia Tech. The Iron Men's John Henson (14pts, 13reb, 2ast, 5blk, 1stl) was Tuesday's top scorer, and has double-doubled in five of North Carolina's last six games. Here's a look at the current scoreboard and playoff bracket.
