After three straight 3rd place finishes, can Boiler up, hammer down finally break through and win it all? His three-headed frontcourt of Robbie Hummel (21pts, 1reb, 1ast, 1stl), Tony Mitchell (17pts, 10reb, 1ast, 1blk) and Jae Crowder (14pts, 6reb, 2ast, 1blk, 4stl) combined to shoot 21-for-40 (53%) in their Week 1 matchups. While their numbers weren't mind-blowing, fantasy college hoops is all about consistency. And it looks like Boiler up, hammer down has a solid foundation to build on.
I think everyone initially questioned McDonnell's All-Americans' second round pick. I remember hearing "Well I definitely thought he would've lasted until the 4th or 5th round" from multiple owners. It appears this newcomer knew something we didn't. Connecticut's Jeremy Lamb (30pts, 3reb, 2ast, 1blk, 4stl) dropped a career-high 30 points and a spectacular baseline dunk, in a 70-57 season-opening win over Columbia.
And this should be quite an interesting season for last year's 2nd place finisher. Led by players on opposite sides of the Border War, Missouri's Marcus Denmon (20pts, 8reb, 3stl) and Kansas' Thomas Robinson (18pts, 11reb, 4ast, 1blk, 2stl), Friday's top scorer, will join forces for The Hammer this season.
Here's a look at the current scoreboard.
