Fantasy College Hoops: Saturday - Week 9
Fantasy college hoops resumed on Saturday, with 35 starters kicking off the weekend. In the neck and neck Game of the Week, Nosotros Creemos stumbled down the home stretch.
His starting backcourt of Georgetown's Jason Clark (10pts, 3reb, 2ast, 2blk, 5stl) and Georgia's Gerald Robinson (11pts, 1reb, 3ast, 3stl) shot a combined 0-for-5 from 3-point territory and just 24.50 fantasy points. Vanderbilt's Jeffery Taylor (16pts, 5reb, 1ast, 2stl) had a better looking stat line, but didn't fare much better.
But could Boiler Up, Hammer Down take advantage? A slight double-double bonus from Seton Hall's Herb Pope (11pts, 10reb, 2blk, 1stl) salvaged a dreadful 4-for-14 shooting night. But guards were the story on this day. Oregon State's Jared Cunningham (19pts, 6reb, 6ast, 1blk, 4stl) and Providence's Vincent Council (23pts, 6reb, 9ast, 2blk, 2stl) combined for 65+ fantasy points, clinched a Game of the Week victory and put an end to Boiler Up, Hammer Down's two-game losing streak.
Other notable performances included Ohio State's Jared Sullinger (28pts, 8reb, 1blk, 4stl) of Chocolate Thunder, with a 13-for-18 effort against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Georgia Tech's Glen Rice (28pts, 8reb, 1ast, 1stl) of McDonnell's All-Americans put up a nearly identical stat line against Duke.
But the feel-good moment of the day came when North Carolina's Harrison Barnes (25pts, 5reb, 4stl) put up 30 fantasy points for Sutton & Sons Saloon and Pharmacy. As the Tar Heels cruised past Boston College in their ACC opener, the league's lone winless team finally notched that elusive first victory.
Here's a look at the current scoreboard.
